Bodum Chocolatiere Glass Hot Chocolate Maker/Frother Review

This product was nice while it lasted, but that was less than 2 months.I purchased mine the week after Thanksgiving and used it a few times a week.I always washed it by hand, even though the instructions state that it's dishwasher-safe.However, after about 6 weeks, the plastic piece at the end of the mixing rod cracked in half and fell off, which rendered the product useless since that piece holds the propeller in place.

I e-mailed Bodum's customer service department, explained the problem, and asked them to replace the broken piece.They responded that the piece I needed would not be available for 4-6 weeks.I then told them that I had really enjoyed the product and did not want to be without my newly purchased hot chocolate maker for a month or longer in the middle of winter, when I use it the most, and asked that they send me a whole new Chocolatiere since they could not promptly replace the part that would make mine functional again.They refused, without further apology or explanation.I do not recommend this product (or any Bodum product, due to the poor service they provided).

Now that I cannot use my Chocolatiere, I tried what another reviewer recommended -- a whisk.It works just as well, at a fraction of the cost (and much less to clean).Just microwave the milk in a Pyrex measuring cup with spout, whisk in the cocoa powder and sugar, and pour into a drinking mug!Wish I had thought of that before I shelled out $30.

This thing really works.First, we use to froth milk for our cappuchino.Try this.Inch or two of cold milk.Give it a medium froth. PUt it in the microwave until it almost boils. Now add to coffee.Careful..If mil is almost boiling and you start to froth it may foam all over the place. If you like super froth, add a splash of evaporated mild to the low fat milk..makes a lot more foam with no addl fat.
Iced coffee? Take your concentrated coffee.Add some milk and sugar (better maple syrup)Now froth it then add ice. Say good bye to that Starbucks Frap stuff!!
Try this..glass of orange juice..froth it.Just seems to taste better.
Cold chocolate milk..froth it to just the amount of foam you like. Never tasted better.

Shin Bistro Milk Frother Review

Does not make enough froth for two cups.Heat milk after frothing and it increases in size but still not enough for two cups unless you are using just a small amount on each.Not as easy to hold on to as the larger one with the handle ( borke the one I had ) which I seem unable to find anywhere.Vendor is trying to find larger one for me, worth shopping this vendor just for the service.

This is just as advertised. It is a large 56 oz pitcher made of good grade stainless steel.

My only complaint is that the spout could use a redesign. When you pour out of the pitcher, you have to make sure you pour slowly, otherwise, it will dribble down the sides of the pitcher.

"Faenza" Cappuccino / Milk Frother, 14 Fl Oz/ 0.41 lt Review

Lift your game windummy. windummy is putting too much milk in. windummy is heating the milk too hot. The milk should be heated to only 70 degrees Celsius (158Deg F). As the other poster said, you dont need to look, because it wont be getting anywhere near boiling. You do it by time; microwaves have different power levels so pay attention how long yours takes to get to the right temp. Mine is: half-fill with cold fridge-temp milk 60 seconds, stir (because the top is hotter than the bottom and you might over cook the top), 15 seconds more, then froth it.

You only need to oscillate the froth sieve up and down about 1 inch or less. Start at the top of the milk and as you work the air in, go a little deeper. The bubbles should not be large -- we're aiming for a velvety micro-foam.

You don't need a seal because the creamer mug is only half-full, not boiling, and you are not mashing potatoes. The spillage occurred because you had it too full. Pouring won't spill either if you have it less full, you silly sausage.

A half mug of milky foam only serves two smallish cups of latte. Or one Grande for me!

Remember the cups need to be well heated before the coffee and micro-foam are poured in -- otherwise the temp will drop, and it will seem too cool.
Because the porcelain creamer soaks up heat too, the second lot (in a hot creamer) will take even less time to get to 70 Deg C

This little frother that uses 2 AA batteries works great.I no longer need to go to Starbucks to get good frothed coffee!This is a better design in many ways than the original frother which used 4 AA batteries and had a spinning disc that looked like it could double as a Dremel tool.That one worked well, but if you touched your mug with it, marred the ceramic glaze.

Aerolatte Original Steam-Free Milk Frother with Stand Review

Nowadays there is a bunch of these critters on the market, but I had to do quite a search a few years ago when I was looking for a low-budget way to make my coffee taste as good as the high-priced yuppie places, and didn't feel I could spring for a three-hundred dollar machine. Sho 'nuff, I got one of these Aerolattes from an online department store. It does just the trick, whether on my freshly-brewed freshly-roasted freshly-ground coffee with at least half hot 1% milk, or on hot chocolate made from powder which is impossible to blend by spoon. Yup, I like it.

I was skeptical whether a little gizmo costing fifteen or twenty dollars could really whip my coffee up the way I wanted, but it does. It is important to wait until you've got the business end in the liquid before you start the thing, unless you like to wear your coffee. The directions say to keep the whirrer just under the surface of the liquid, and I've found that does work. And the batteries seem to last a long time. When it's time for new ones, the whip starts to wobble.

Krups XS5020 20-Ounce Stainless-Steel Milk Frothing Pitcher Review

This product is inexpensive and well constructed.

But I think I did a mistake my not purchasing a smaller pitcher. I have a Mc Coffee machine that makes a decent cappuccino and I needed a pitcher such as this one. Unfortunately, I did not notice that the size of this pitcher was too large given the length of the steamer in my coffee machine. I am the only one who drinks coffee in my household, so I usually need only a small quantity of milk for my cappuccino. But then I found out that if I use the quantity of milk I usually need, the steamer does not even touch the milk, because the pitcher is too deep.

So, I would recommend this pitcher highly if you routinely prepare at least two cappuccinos, but otherwise you may want to check carefully the size of both the pitcher and the steamer in your coffee machine before buying this product.

Bodum Chambord 5-Ounce Milk Frother Review

This product froths milk very nicely and if you like extra frothy milk it is an excellent product. And on this basis alone easily worth five (5) stars. Clean-up and maintenance is a snap as the bottom portion of the frother is easily disassembled and cleaned. I purchased this as a replacement to the previous generation of Bodum Frothers and have found the following challenges while using this product:
a) while frothing the pour spout isn't properly covered by the cap and on occasion foamy milk spills onto the kitchen counter
b) the meshing seems better suited for a French press, which means separating the foam for a pretty cup display is a bit of a challenge (hint, don't use slotted portion of the cap, just pull the entire plunger mechanism out and use a spoon to separate the foam)
c) HOT WHILE HANDLING: admittedly I like my milk as close to burnt without burning, so this sucker is very hot when coming out of the microwave and this is my primary complaint. The previous version had a nice handle connected to the glass easy for gripping the smoking hot vessel while frothing milk. I still have not found a tolerable solution to this.

Good product and does what it says it will do. But if you like really hot milk for frothing you will need to find a solution for holding the hot glass in hand. Otherwise, a really good product.

Found this item cheaper at a local "Bed, Bath and Beyond" store ($79).

This product works as advertised.It has three parts:

1.The base (which plugs into the wall and provides the electricity)
2.The decanter which contains the electrics that heats the milk.There is a socket under the decanter the plugs into and sits loosely the base.
3.The removeable lid that has a stirrer attached to it.
3.The stirrer, which is a tiny wire whisk that you can remove when you only want to heat the milk.

Its very easy to operate...You put the correct amount of milk into the decanter(There are two fill lines, one for froth, and one for hot milk), place the decanter onto the base and press a button.The wire whisk spins around as the unit heats the milk and you get a nice single serving of froth.Remove the whisk and you can simply heat up the milk.The unit shuts itself off automatically when it is finished properly frothing or heating your milk.There's no guesswork at all.

Not only does this product prevent you from cooling off your coffee with cold milk, it makes your coffee look and taste better too.Funny how simply placing a layer of froth on the top of your coffee makes it look ten times more appealing.We tried it using Mocha, Donut Shop, and Butter Toffee flavors.It worked great in each one of those.

Bodum Shin Bistro 5-Ounce Milk Frother Review

I have had my Bodum frother for about three years (older model than this one, black plastic top) and have had no problems with it other than my husband hitting the top rim with something and chipping the glass.I smoothed it out with an emery board nail file and it is fine, but that prompted me to look on Amazon to see if they still sold them so that I could order a backup but they are a little pricey now; I think I paid only about $10 for mine.

Many people have criticized this product because the glass broke and it seems many people are using metal spoons with it. To me it is common sense when dealing with a thin glass product such as this to use a plastic utensil if you need one. One of those long handled plastic spoons like you get at an ice cream shop work well. I usually just pour my froth out and wait a few seconds with a couple of little shakes which gets most of it out.

I always heat the milk (or half & half which I use most of the time) in the microwave first right in the beaker,then do the pumping and have had no problems doing it that way.I actually think heated milk froths better and creates a finer froth.Many people are under the false impression that heated milk won't froth but I think this is because most of the instructions on frothing are for espresso machines where it is always suggested to use very cold milk before steaming and frothing. But this is because of the heating factor with the hot steam. You have to use cold milk or you won't have enough time to froth before the milk reaches the ideal temperature.If you used preheated milk it would quickly overheat using hot steam to froth.So I think because of this many people assume that you need cold milk for any kind of frothing.

My Bodum has held up extremely well over the years that I have used it but I am careful with it and never put it in the dishwasher. I always immediately rinse both the wand and beaker, fill with a little warm water and detergent, then pump a few times to disperse the detergent. I then rinse well and air dry.I rarely take it apart to clean. Once in awhile I use a very soft brush to clean the screen.

This little frother is both convenient and stress free, no worrying about timing, or temperature, as with the espresso machine wands.You just pump for as long as you want until you're happy with the volume of your froth, which you can easily see because of the clear glass.

Rattleware 20-Ounce Latte Art Milk Frothing Pitcher Review

In case you're wondering what size to get for a home espresso machine like I was, this is the one!

Any smaller (for example, the 12oz or 16oz) and it won't fit much milk and you'll have to be lucky and skillful to keep it in the pitcher; any bigger (32oz+) and it probably won't fit under your steam wand easily, and you'll have a very hard time steaming only smaller amounts of milk because of the distance from the top to bottom of the pitcher.

This size, on the other hand, is PERFECT - small enough that you can do a one cup latte/cappuccino, but big enough to do two or three. Plus, it's very well made stainless-steel that is very sturdy and will last a long time, no problems there.

So if you've got a home espresso machine, like the DeLonghi or Barilla or Saeco/Starbucks (mine!) then this is what you want.

Aerolatte To Go, Milk Frother, Black Review

It really makes good froth for your coffee.

I find it more consistent if I froth cold milk first, then nuke it for about 10 seconds. This way the froth stays "solid" instead of melting away (at least that's the way I like it).

I take it to work and whenever I travel, too. I've been using my extra sets of reachargeable batteries, cos the batteries that came with it only lasted me probably less than a month (I've been using this frother 3x a day since January).

Aerolatte Milk Frother, Satin Finish Review

I just got the box from Amazon, pulled out my new Aerolatte, removed the protective cover from the battery compartment (yeah, it even comes pre-loaded with a pair of "aerolatte" double A's!), and put about 2 oz of NON-FAT (skim) milk in a glass.

I nuked the milk for about 20 seconds, pulled it from the microwave, stuck the aerolatte in the glass and pushed the switch.

DANG!!

Nearly INSTANT foam. GOBS of it. It formed PEAKS!! You could make small milk-animals out of it.

I really can't believe how well this thing works. The only thing that would ruin it for me is if it simply fell apart after a few uses, but frankly, with a little bit of care, it looks like it'll hold up. We'll see.

But in the meantime, call me Doctor Foam.

Notwithstanding the complaints of people who claim that their aerolatte lasted about 5 minutes, I just replaced the batteries for the first time since buying it back in January. (Yes, it still works, but I was disappointed that I was no longer able to make foam-animals!)

Well a couple of fresh Duracells later, and I sound like a deranged dentist with this thing in my hand. The "buzz" I had become accustomed to, is now a high-pitched whizzing sound, that actually made my molars uncomfortable.

But I'm back to making some seriously decent foam again!
