Jura-Capresso ENA 3 Automatic Coffee Center Review

Jura-Capresso ENA 3 Automatic Coffee CenterI purchased this machine for my husband and myself after Christmas to replace our 2 yr. old Gaggia Coffee Deluxe. We had so many problems with the Gaggia we gave up on making a good non stovetop espresso. We found it in the ENA 3. We chose the ENA 3 because it was affordable and we really didn't need the express frother and the few other features the ENA 5 had.

We are thrilled with the ease of use and the easy to follow instructions. We have tried several different beans and they have all produced a great cup of espresso with great crema. We have made espresso, cappuccino, lattes and hot chocolate. They have all turned out superb. The machine is almost self cleaning. It rinses after heating just before making the first cup and when you shut the machine down. You only have to dump the grounds and clean the drip trays from the rinsing. A very easy process. The unit came with a great DVD, clearyl water filter and 2 cleaning tablets.

We now start our day with an espresso and another in the afternoon. It is just so simple to use and we are really enjoying our cups of coffee.

We would highly recommend this machine.

Rattleware 56-Ounce Latte Art Pitcher Review

Rattleware 56-Ounce Latte Art PitcherThis is just as advertised. It is a large 56 oz pitcher made of good grade stainless steel.

My only complaint is that the spout could use a redesign. When you pour out of the pitcher, you have to make sure you pour slowly, otherwise, it will dribble down the sides of the pitcher.

Rattleware Spouted 25-Ounce Bell Pitcher Review

Rattleware Spouted 25-Ounce Bell PitcherI like that it's bigger than 20oz.

But the inside is rough steel, with the occasional small pit.
These pits are showing rust in them.
The bell shape also makes it a little awkward to scrub unless you have really small hands.

Also if you fill it more than about half full it is hard to pour from.

On the plus side: It is a pitcher and it serves that purpose well.
It is bigger than 20oz.
The handle is spot welded which on some items (read Thermos Raya line handles) is bad.
But on this, there are a total of 6 welds instead of 3 and the handle is probably never going to snap off. I just tried 3/4ths heartedly to break off the handle and it doesn't even wiggle a little.

Overall it isn't bad, but I wouldn't buy this one again.

Rattleware Spouted 16-Ounce Bell Pitcher Review

Rattleware Spouted 16-Ounce Bell PitcherHaving sought the perfect latte for many years, now, and learning all the while, I've become convinced that the perfect foam carefully poured is almost as important as having freshly roasted beans. The flavor is in the crema at the surface of a shot.To get it requires beans no more than 10 days from the roaster (and not over-roasted!).To keep the crema and its volatile essence at the surface where our principal taste organ (the nose) can fully sense it does require the perfect foam and a careful pour.Foam must be "microfoam" - i.e., no visible bubbles but, instead, a glossy sheen on the surface so it can float the crema in tact and to the top. After tamping and swirling the foam in the pitcher, it is poured through the crema, keeping the crema floating on the surface.

And, here's where the Rattler pitcher comes in.First, the spout is a must for the careful pour (or latte art if you are so inclined). Many such pitchers have that. The rounded, bulging bottom, though, works better than my other pitchers as one prepares the foam under the steam nozzle.Foam starts, of course, with nozzle right at the milk's surface as air is noisely pumped in with the steam. No matter how carefully I try, though, some noticeable bubbles form in this initial stage. (If I am only half awake or hands are shaking from too much fun the night before, sometimes lots of bubbles form.) Trick is, as milk gets to "just warm" (but not yet hot) and nozzle is buried deeper simply to heat to final temperature, one wants to get the concoction swirling under the pressure of the steam now being directed deeper and at an angle into the pitcher. That can cause any number of bubble sins to disappear, sucking them into the swirling liquid. Here, I think the rounded flare design of the bottom of the pitcher really helps.

Can find a spouted pitcher at half the price of the Rattler. I've used such for years with no complaints. But, because of the performance improvement just described, I have just ordered a second 16 oz and have ordered a 25 oz to try it out.

"Faenza" Cappuccino / Milk Frother, 14 Fl Oz/ 0.41 lt Review

'Faenza' Cappuccino / Milk Frother, 14 Fl Oz/ 0.41 ltLift your game windummy. windummy is putting too much milk in. windummy is heating the milk too hot. The milk should be heated to only 70 degrees Celsius (158Deg F). As the other poster said, you dont need to look, because it wont be getting anywhere near boiling. You do it by time; microwaves have different power levels so pay attention how long yours takes to get to the right temp. Mine is: half-fill with cold fridge-temp milk 60 seconds, stir (because the top is hotter than the bottom and you might over cook the top), 15 seconds more, then froth it.

You only need to oscillate the froth sieve up and down about 1 inch or less. Start at the top of the milk and as you work the air in, go a little deeper. The bubbles should not be large -- we're aiming for a velvety micro-foam.

You don't need a seal because the creamer mug is only half-full, not boiling, and you are not mashing potatoes. The spillage occurred because you had it too full. Pouring won't spill either if you have it less full, you silly sausage.

A half mug of milky foam only serves two smallish cups of latte. Or one Grande for me!

Remember the cups need to be well heated before the coffee and micro-foam are poured in -- otherwise the temp will drop, and it will seem too cool.
Because the porcelain creamer soaks up heat too, the second lot (in a hot creamer) will take even less time to get to 70 Deg C

Nespresso 3192US Aeroccino Plus Review

Nespresso 3192US Aeroccino PlusI really love it! You fill cold milk into it, push the button and after about a minute you get warm and very stiff cappucino-milk foam.

The newer Aeroccino Plus is an improved version of the older Aeroccino (no plus). It works great and - honestly - there is no reason to buy the old Aeroccino anymore (i own both)!

The Plus is larger, the milk doesn't burn to the floor of the kettle anymore, it can now be submerged into water (but no dishwasher!) and it can also do cold milk foam which looks great and stiff (hold the switch for about 2 seconds - the light turns blue instead of red).

Finally cleaning is really easy and can be done with water, sometimes a little soap and with the hands - there is no burned milk anymore (as with the old version). They also improved the coating so nothing sticks anymore.

If you love cappucinos or cafe-lattes, get one!

Rattleware 32-Ounce Latte Art Frothing Pitcher Review

Rattleware 5-Inch Easy Steam Thermometer Review

Rattleware 5 inch Easy Steam ThermometerI guess the thermometer itself is ok. I won't know until it's calibrated. Like the similar product, the S10, this thermometer is described as "Easy to Calibrate" and as having calibration instructions. That's great, but now that I have it, the instructions say to slip the calibration tool "onto stem with hex nut recess toward themometer dial." But I have no calibration tool.

Sure, now that I know that, I can return to Amazon's product page and see it listed as an accessory, but only if I click onto to the second page of accessories. And nowhere in the 6 other current reviews here is the tool mentioned. Did no one else bother to calibrate? Did all six people already have a tool? I don't think so. They didn't mention calibration at all, let alone a separate tool.

So, if you want this item, perhaps you should purchase the kit which includes the tool. As for me, I guess I'll have to include the $5 tool in my next order. If I didn't have Amazon Prime, I'd be more upset.

20 oz ESPRESSO COFFEE MILK FROTHING PITCHER BARISTA Review

20 oz ESPRESSO COFFEE MILK FROTHING PITCHER BARISTAI am using this to froth about 6 oz of milk for two cappuccinos, and it is just the right size. After frothing the foam rises to about 2/3 - 3/4 of the pitcher volume, so one pours at a comfortable starting angle without spilling a drop. The pronounced spout is also helpful in this respect. This pitcher is very easy to clean and looks great beside our stainless espresso machine.

Bialetti Cappuccino and Latte Set Review

Bialetti Cappuccino and Latte SetI could not resist trying this method of making espresso. You know you can spend alot trying to get a decent product and I have not been disappointed with the practically inexpensive Bialetti. The first attempt was successful and that told me this was for me....the bonus milk frother made more froth that an old steamer frother I used to have. There are a few tricks with the frother(1% milk by itself not so good but add some half and half to the milk and voile').The milk mixture needs to be heated enough to coat the back of a spoon, pump it quickly and serve.Regarding the espresso maker itself....just don't add any more water than to that line..and oh don't open the lid to look at it until it is done or you will get sputter onto your stove top.To know when the espresso is done just listen you will know when it is done....very quick and yummm.

Krups XS5020 20-Ounce Stainless-Steel Milk Frothing Pitcher Review

Krups XS5020 20-Ounce Stainless-Steel Milk Frothing PitcherThis product is inexpensive and well constructed.

But I think I did a mistake my not purchasing a smaller pitcher. I have a Mc Coffee machine that makes a decent cappuccino and I needed a pitcher such as this one. Unfortunately, I did not notice that the size of this pitcher was too large given the length of the steamer in my coffee machine. I am the only one who drinks coffee in my household, so I usually need only a small quantity of milk for my cappuccino. But then I found out that if I use the quantity of milk I usually need, the steamer does not even touch the milk, because the pitcher is too deep.

So, I would recommend this pitcher highly if you routinely prepare at least two cappuccinos, but otherwise you may want to check carefully the size of both the pitcher and the steamer in your coffee machine before buying this product.

Rattleware 20-Ounce Latte Art Milk Frothing Pitcher Review

Rattleware 20-Ounce Latte Art Milk Frothing PitcherIn case you're wondering what size to get for a home espresso machine like I was, this is the one!

Any smaller (for example, the 12oz or 16oz) and it won't fit much milk and you'll have to be lucky and skillful to keep it in the pitcher; any bigger (32oz+) and it probably won't fit under your steam wand easily, and you'll have a very hard time steaming only smaller amounts of milk because of the distance from the top to bottom of the pitcher.

This size, on the other hand, is PERFECT - small enough that you can do a one cup latte/cappuccino, but big enough to do two or three. Plus, it's very well made stainless-steel that is very sturdy and will last a long time, no problems there.

So if you've got a home espresso machine, like the DeLonghi or Barilla or Saeco/Starbucks (mine!) then this is what you want.

Aerolatte Milk Frother, Satin Finish Review

Aerolatte Milk Frother, Satin FinishI just got the box from Amazon, pulled out my new Aerolatte, removed the protective cover from the battery compartment (yeah, it even comes pre-loaded with a pair of "aerolatte" double A's!), and put about 2 oz of NON-FAT (skim) milk in a glass.

I nuked the milk for about 20 seconds, pulled it from the microwave, stuck the aerolatte in the glass and pushed the switch.

DANG!!

Nearly INSTANT foam. GOBS of it. It formed PEAKS!! You could make small milk-animals out of it.

I really can't believe how well this thing works. The only thing that would ruin it for me is if it simply fell apart after a few uses, but frankly, with a little bit of care, it looks like it'll hold up. We'll see.

But in the meantime, call me Doctor Foam.

-Jonathan SabinUPDATE ***9 MONTHS LATER***

Notwithstanding the complaints of people who claim that their aerolatte lasted about 5 minutes, I just replaced the batteries for the first time since buying it back in January. (Yes, it still works, but I was disappointed that I was no longer able to make foam-animals!)

Well a couple of fresh Duracells later, and I sound like a deranged dentist with this thing in my hand. The "buzz" I had become accustomed to, is now a high-pitched whizzing sound, that actually made my molars uncomfortable.

But I'm back to making some seriously decent foam again!
